Stok Palace is a Buddhist monastery in Leh district,Ladakh, northern India, which is situated at a distance of 15 kilometres to the south of Leh. Stok Palace was founded by LamaLhawang Lotus in the 14th Century and has a notable library including all 108 volumes of the Kangjur and wanted places near nubra valley. A ritual dance-mask festival is held annually. It was used for some time as a residence by the Ladakhi royalty.
Hemis gompa is one of the major and wealthiest monatries in ladakh. Hemis gompa is run by Drukpa sect of Buddhism, which once flourished during the Namgyal dynasty. Panamik More DetailsAlchi Gompa is located 70 kms from Leh city by the banks of the Indus river on the path from Leh to Kargil. Alchi gompa is placed at an elevation of 10,200 feet. Alchi gompa is also separation of three villages which are positioned in lower Ladakh region. Du-khang, is the main and the oldest preserved structure of the complex.
