Pangong Lake Ladakh
Pangong Lake is situated in the upper reaches of Himalayan Mountain range that is about 140 kilometers from Leh and the lake changes the color. It is located beyond the sea level. Many year back the government has decided to open the lake for the tourists so that the natural beauty of the lake can be explored. The tourism department has planned to develop the infrastructure and enable the road leading to the lake. The first sight of the tranquil, azure blue waters and shaky lakeshore remains imprinted in the memory of tourists. Pangong Lake is not only a tourist destination but also a natural area with scenic and landscape beauty. There are very few boats available in the lake and the boats belong to army and they would not allow you to go beyond half a kilometer. Pangong Lake Ladakh is divided among Ladakh and Tibet in the year 1684. The indication of the calm, cobalt blue waters are the best memories for the tourist.

There is various numbers of migratory birds like Brahmani Ducks, black necked cranes and seagulls are found nearby the lake for wildlife fanatics and bird spectators. The lake water is salty because of that there is very less micro-vegetation. You will not fond any fish nor aquatic life in the lake. There are specific types of bush and perennial basils that grow in the marshlands around the lake.
Inner Line Permit
There is no need for inner line permit for Indians nationalities and also tourist who visit Pangong Lake. If the foreigners are visiting Pangong Lake then they must have group permits with minimum of 3 people. The foreigners should be escorted by a qualified guide. The permit is available in Leh office for a minimum fee.
Best Time to Visit Pangong Lake
The Best Time to Visit Pangong Lake is in the month of June to September. The weather is very harsh in the winter season.
