Nubra is a tri-armed valley positioned to the north east of Ladakh valley. Diskit the capital of Nubra is about 150 km north from Leh town, the capital of Ladakh region. Local peoples say that its original name was Ldumra it means the valley of flowers. The ordinary mode to the entrance of Nubra Valley is to pass through over the Khardung La pass (world's Highest Motorable Road) from Leh. Non-locals require an Inner Line Permit to enter Nubra.
