Mangu Monastery

is to be found to the south of Uletokpo and west of AlchiLadakh and it nearly 2 hours takes to walk from Uletokpo and five hours from Alchi. The great translator Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo probably founded this Mangu Monastery during the same period as the foundation Alchi Choskor. One has to cross a small bridge and passing through the village it will make the person to enter into a deep gorge. Climbing from the right bank of the watercourse, a partially way and it crosses to the left, after pointed turn. After around two and a half hours of walking, the Mangu village comes to sight. Mangu village is attractively standing on the foothills, above the ravine. There is no road to the Mangu Village. You leave that village and walk over two hours through a narrow valley for Mangu village that stands on a foothill.
The Mangu monastery consists similar architechure to Alchi Choskar and Tabo Monastery which are in Spiti and was also founded by Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo.

Mangu Gompa Alchi

is situated on a flat surface like others monasteries such as Alchi and Tabo monasteries. Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo most likely to be found in this monastery during the same era as the Alchi Choskor. Mangu monastery consists mainly of four temples.In this Mangu Gompa Alchi it has small temples, on either side of the main temple which contains the statue of Avaloketesvara and Maitriya in the standing position. On the right side of the temple it contains figure of a four-headed Vairocana, as the main image and the wall has mural of Mandala.
